Donating a bulletin, whether in memory of a loved one or in celebration
of life's events (birthday, anniversary, etc.), is a wonderful way to give
thanks to God for the blessings of memories, family, and friends. This
opportunity is available to every parishioner from all three
congregations in our parish. The cost of donating a bulletin is $25.00. If
you would like to donate such a bulletin, please contact Karen Dawe at
786-2726 or Sadie Ralph at 786-2794.
St. Luke's Congregation host a fellowship evening once a month
following their 7 pm service. Such an evening is a wonderful way to talk
to one another as well as to welcome new families into our congregation.
This will involve a light snack, as well as coffee, tea and kool-aid. We
are looking for three or four individuals at a time, to provide the snacks
for these occasions. Once again, this is a monthly event and if we have
enough interest, you will only be called upon once or twice a year. If you
are interested there is a sign-up sheet at the back of the church. Your
support is greatly appreciated.
The Parish of Port de Grave Recycles! As a way to raise funds for our
Parish and help the environment, Parish Council has opened an account
at the Green Depot in Bay Roberts. If you would like to contribute, just
collect your recycables, mark them as being for the Parish of Port de
Grave, and drop them off at the depot. The money for your collectables
will be sent directly to the Parish. Together we can make a difference!
Wondering how to become more involved in Parish Life? Why not
consider becoming involved in bible study or assisting with the
compilation of the Parish newsletter? Why not become a server, reader,
choir member, ACW member, or pastoral visitor? If you're interested just
speak to Reverend Amanda. How will you offer your time and talents to
God?
Music Ministry: Do you sing or play a musical instrument? If God has
blessed you with the gift of music, why not use that gift to help enhance
our worship? Beginning in October we will begin a ministry of music
during our Sunday liturgies, in all congregations. It is our hope that
once every couple of weeks or so parishioners of all ages will take a
turn sharing a musical selection with us during the service. If you are
interested please speak to Reverend Amanda. We are blessed with
much talent in our Parish, so lets use it to worship God! Remember:
Good Christian stewardship involves offering your talents too!
Special Events:
Advent folders and envelopes for 2010 are now available at the back of
the churches.
A note from St. Luke's Vestry: At its meeting on November 9, 2009 the
vestry decided to make the funeral pall part of our liturgical life together
at St. Luke's. As you are all aware, every symbol in the Anglican tradition
is used for a reason. Death is another part of life and the funeral pall
symbolizes our baptismal garment as we, as all God's children, pass from
this earthly life into life everlasting. We will began using this symbol on
January 1, 2010.
